Have you learned anything
new lately?

I have learned that sometimes USPS packages travel more than I do. I mentioned last week that I was waiting for three packages with more parts for Diane's Ladybug necklace to arrive. Nowadays, you can track USPS packages. Well one of the three packages left Washington State on Monday and was in Brockton, MA on Wednesday. Yay, the next town over. Should be here next day. But the USPS tracking system didn't recognize the tracking number of the other two. Lost?? So, I watched as the one package went from Brockton, MA to Hudson, MA and Schrewsbury, MA. Finally, on Friday, it was back in Brockton and they said it would be delivered on Monday. Still nothing about the other two. So I called my supplier. They didn't understand either but the conclusion was that if the two were, in fact lost, they couldn't make a claim for 10 days. :-(

I learned that many things come from China though I purchased them here in the states. The pretty black boxes with the ribbon came from China. I could tell in January that I would soon run out. So I started my Google search for a local supplier. No luck but I did find some similar boxes that came from a supplier in China. Well, might as well eliminate the middleman. They were supposed to ship by Jan 25.
Did you know that the Chinese New Year started on January 28? I learned that. My suppliers said they would be closed to celebrate from Jan 26 to Feb 1. You know the boxes didn't ship before the New Year.  Then on Feb 1 they advised me they were out of stock and could I choose another item? I did and they are on their way. Purple ones.

I learned that if you wait awhile, things will work out. On Saturday, I received the traveling box. And guess what? It contained all three orders. Some one noticed they were going to the same address and packaged them together. Thus only one valid tracking number. So, I spent most of the weekend making necklaces. Forty three to be exact. Well, I think that is how many. Lost track.
Monday, I spent organizing invoices, counting who I owe what to and packaging necklaces to mail. Yes, USPS. Setting aside those for local pick up. Now, I'll get organized again. I've ordered more parts and payed to have them ship Priority - They are here already.
So, what did I learn about the USPS? ____ You fill in the blank. :-)

The best thing I learned, however, is that you all are very understanding and forgiving. Well, maybe except the husband who wanted a necklace for Valentine's Day. Though he hasn't said so. The love for Diane so shines through this project I'm pleased to be part of it.
I learned about that understanding especially when I accidentally cut the chain pieces too short on some. Made the necklace only 16 inches long instead of 18 inches as they are supposed to be. Shipped some out, too. I contacted those I figured may have received the short necklaces and worked out a way to fix the problem. Well, the good thing that came out of that is that I can now offer different lengths. On the website you will see lengths of 16, 18 and 20 inches available now.
I think I have a handle on things now. The new boxes should be here soon. I still have some that a friend gave to me. (She no longer had use for them.)  I have been able to fill most all of the orders now and can make more as more orders come in. We haven't even started to show case the necklace outside of immediate contacts. As of this writing we have sold 97. I have no doubt that we will hit the 100 + mark. I know of one order for 10 I've been putting off. :-)

Many, many thanks to you all for your support.
But keep the orders coming.

Send me an email with any comments.
Until next week,

Bev
