Last Monday, I took a trip with two of my beading buddies to Two Guys Fossils looking for some new gemstones to add to my newest wire-wrap collection of pieces.
We were not disappointed. I found two new Malachite pieces (yet to be started) and two "Picture Jasper" stones. One was small but had a great picture on it. Rather than clutter the picture with wire, I just added a nice silver bail on it.
It almost looks like a cave drawing. I can see the "people" moving across the desert. What do you see?
The other Picture Jasper stone was plainer so I decided to wire wrap it. Instead of silver wire, I decided to try "Vintage Bronze" wire. It looks nice with the color of the stone but now I'm on a quest for a chain. I think maybe brown leather would look good or a bronze chain. I'm still on the look out.
I've shown this stone before as it is like my first attempt at wire wrapping in the class I took at pflora beads. It is "Fuchsite with Rubies"
You can see the previous post here as well as read more about the stone's properties.
One other piece I found was an "Amethyst slice". These are flat and thin. I decided, as I did with the first Picture Jasper stone, to just add a silver bail so the beauty of the whole piece would show through.
This shows why there is so much variation in the color of Amethyst stones. Love the bull's eye in the center of this slice.
Last, but not least, is another "Picture" stone.
This one really needed the plain silver bail. Can you see the sun coming up (or going down???)
You can see most of the new pendants on my website as well as read more about the individual stones. Pendant, Various
As usual, I like to know what you think about what I show to you. Click on the link below rather than using the reply button. That way it comes directly to my email address which works better for me than the one associated with this email. Thanks.
Bev, I think...
Until next time,
